Dear Santa…my Toronto Blue Jays Christmas wish list.

Dear Santa:

All I want for Christmas this year is for the Blue Jays to go out and get the right players, through free agency or trades, to make this team a contender during the 2009 season.  We have a very good core group of players, but with a few key pick-ups, we could move to the top of the AL East (hey if Tampa could do it, why not us!!).  Here is my projected (wish-list) line-up for the 2009 season.

·                          Catcher – Rod Barajas

·                          1st Base – Lyle Overbay

·                          2nd Base – Aaron Hill

·                          3rd Base – Scott Rolen

·                          Shortstop -Rafael Furcal – Just Signed with Atlanta. ooops, I mean Dodgers now.

·                          Left Field - Adam Lind / Travis Snider

·                          Center Field – Vernon Wells

·                          Right Field – Alex Rios

·                          Designated Hitter – Jason Giambi (Would look good sticking it to the Yankees)

·                          Starting Pitcher 1 – Roy Halladay

·                          Starting Pitcher 2 – Brad Penny (2nd starter if Burnett leaves.)

·                          Starting Pitcher 3 – Dustin McGowan

·                          Starting Pitcher 4 – Jesse Litsch

·                          Starting Pitcher 5 - Scott Richmond / Casey Janssen

·                          Closer - B.J. Ryan

·                          Bullpen – Jason Frasor (R), Jesse Carlson (L), Scott Downs (L)

Now it may be too much to ask the Rogers people (R.I.P. Ted Rogers) to open up their wallet’s for all three free-agents, but it’s not like we’re asking for Manny Ramirez…..on second though….hmmmmmmmmm

World Baseball Classic ’09 – Team Canada hopefuls

canada.JPGPOTENTIAL ’09 TEAM CANADA ROSTER

With the 2009 World Baseball Classic right around the corner (starts March 5, 2009), I thought it would be a good time to have a look at a potential roster for our Canadian National Team.   This year’s team has alot of potential to be a major player in this year’s tournament.  With stars such as Justin Morneau, Jason Bay, and Russell Martin, and great pitchers like Rich Harden & Ryan Dempster, I feel that Canada has as good a chance as anybody else to win this year’s event.  Here is what my roster would look like:

C         Russell Martin

1B        Justin Morneau

2B        Pete Orr

3B        Mark Teahen

SS        Taylor Green

OF        Jason Bay

OF       Michael Saunders

OF       Matt Stairs

DH       Joey Votto

P          Ryan Dempster

P          Rich Harden

P          Jeff Francis

P          David Davidson

P          Jesse Crain

P          Scott Richmond

P          Eric Gagne

Bench   Scott Thorman

Bench   Nicholas Weglarz

Give me your thoughts, or let me know if you think I’m missing anybody.
